About us

Powered by kindness, driven by community.

The Night Before Christmas Campaign is a volunteer run charity in Annbank, Ayrshire, supporting children, young people and vulnerable adults across South West Scotland , from Girvan to Largs.

Where it began

“Do all children get a Christmas Eve box like I do?”

Tygan, age twelve, Annbank, 2015

That single question, asked of her mum Jodie (our Head Elf) and her gran Isabella, became the Night Before Christmas Campaign. The answer was no, not every child wakes up to the magic of Christmas, and the three of them set out to change that.

In their first year they delivered 90 boxes filled with love and gifts. Seeing people sleeping rough on a cold morning in Glasgow pushed them to do more, and to register as a charity. From 593 bags to more than 7,000, the campaign has grown every year, and so has the need.

The story continues, and you can be part of it.

Freddie’s story

One story stays with us.

A wee boy we call Freddie, whose parents had nothing to give him that year. When our volunteers heard he loved dinosaurs and monster trucks, they hunted everywhere until his Red Bag Full of Joy was packed full of them.

His dad had been at his lowest. He told us afterwards that seeing what NBCC had done for his son gave him a reason to keep going.

That is the difference an ordinary gift can make. Most people know us for that Christmas moment. Fewer know what we do for the other eleven months.
